Precipice Walk

| This is a great walk, with stunning views, starting from the car park 2 miles to the north of Dolgellau on the country road to LLanfachreth. Use OS Map 124 (ref:745 213). The trail is clearly marked from the car park, walk 100m along the lane turn left onto the forest road. Proceed along the forest road for approx ½ mile as it meanders through woods and skirts a small field. | Bear left just prior to the old cottage, up the slope, and over the stile. Follow the well worn path round to the lake, with a view to Cader Idris. As you approach the lake the trail splits. Ahead will take you up to a stile and round the hillside to your right with views to Llanfachreth and the church (left will take you down to the lake). | Follow the path round the hillside, enjoy the views as you look out over Coed y Brenin Forest, then later out over the Mawddach Estuary to the sea. Take care as there are considerable drops and step slopes. The trail now crosses a stone wall and returns to the lake, walk along either side of the lake, then retrace your steps along the forest drive to the car park (toilets). |
