| The hills around the village of Ganllwyd are riddled with old mine workings, along the trail you'll see many small openings, and ruins of old buildings. Mining began here in 1840, declined after 1914, and re-opened briefly between 1981-89.

This walk is along well drained forest roads made of gravel, sensible footware recommended, walking boots optional. The route is on mainly level ground, there are small climbs along the way, but nothing to be considered strenuous. | Nearest refreshment after your walk is at the Tyn-y Groes Hotel, south on the A470 (1 mile), or go north to the Forest Visitor Centre at Coed y Brenin (3 miles). |
